BOB GREENLEE, FOUNDER OF KINGSNAKE RECORDS and steward of the blues has passed. Bob was responsible for helping many blues artists get their start. Kenny Neal, Lucky Peterson, and many more including myself benefitted from Bob's guidance. Noble "Thin Man" Watts owes his resurgence to Bob, as well as Rufus Thomas, Alex Taylor and Kenny's dad, Raful. He was the main brain behind Root Boy Slim's band. His bass playing can be heard on all these guys' albums. No one did more for Florida blues and blusicians than Bob Greenlee. He will be missed not only for what he has done but who he was. One of a kind. Play on Brother Bob

JB'S FISH CAMP &
SEAFOOD RESTAURANT
A1A & Pompano, New Smyrna Beach, FL
7 MILES SOUTH OF THE ISLANDER

Voted in Top 10 Central Florida Restaurants
One doesn't usually think tenderness when the word alligator is used. But when I bit into the blackened alligator at JB's Fish Camp in New Smyrna Beach, the word tender popped into my mind. Also "blackened usually implies loads of salt and so much pepper, you can't taste any thing else. Not so at JB's. What a find. JB is dedicated to FRESH quality seafood. The ambience of and old cracker fish camp in the middle of the condos and beachy tourist traps is a breath of fresh air. A few years ago we ended up at JB's on a Sunday afternoon and were pleasantly surprised to hear strains of "Hoochie Coochi Man" drifting through the palmettos. My ol' buddy Scott Corwin and his band were jammin their butts off. It don't get much better than this.

MUSSEL AND SHRIMP PAELLA WITH CAULIFLOWER
(Pictured here with the Sauce Boss' Salsa. See May of 2003 Gazette in the archives for salsa recipe)
1 Lg onion chopped
1/2 cauliflower separated into florettes
1 pint vegetable broth
1cup uncooked rice
8 or 10 very Lg shrimp peeled
Liquid Summer Hot Sauce
2 Lbs mussels
Mix broth and Liquid Summer in a paella pan (or any large pot) and bring to a boil. (I found a small paella pan at a flea market for $11. It's turned out to be the best buy I ever made. It's an incredibly versatile cooking utensil. I've done a whole breakfast in it at the campsite. Cooked steaks, Thai curry seafood and all kinds of meals in it!)
Add rice, cauliflower, and onion. Turn down the heat, cover (I use tin foil over the paella pan) and steam for 15+ minutes Mix in the mussels and shrimp. Cover and cook for another 5 minutes. Splash Liquid Summer on top and dig in!
